Slurry spreading

Farmer Rob Kynaston explains some of the secrets of his success

Rob is a Shropshire dairy farmer with some arable crops too. He explains why he thinks our Tried & Tested four step nutrient management plan is important and how a FACTS qualified advisor can help.

In this video Rob shows us

  • how he gets his spade out and digs a soil sample
  • a good example of good soil structure and a healthy mix of grass and clover
  • a slatted slurry system and further discussion on types of manure storage
  • his fertiliser spreading methods and why he checks his tyre pressures and calibrates machinery to ensure a even spreading

Rob believes it’s about attention to detail in the four step plan to use nutrients efficiently and economically to improve cost savings and avoid damage to the environment. His experience is that you can optimise yield in this way.

It’s about the right product, in the right quantity, at the right time and in the right place
