Farming Rules for Water is the common name for The Reduction and Prevention of Agricultural Diffuse Pollution (England) Regulations 2018, which came into force on 2 April 2018.
There are eight rules in total; five cover the use of organic manures and manufactured fertilisers and the remaining three relate to soil management.
The rules are enforced by the EA using an advice-led approach, which means it will give farmers a chance to address any breaches before taking enforcement action.
