Trees and woodlands are an integral but mostly under-used part of the farmed landscape. Managing woodlands on your farm can help you to diversify business income and produce.
The online event will cover farm business benefits of tree planting, alongside environmental benefits including water and air quality, carbon, and biodiversity. It will also look at a few examples of successful projects helping other farmers to enhance their businesses and answer some of the questions you might have on how to make your woodlands work for you.

Geoff Newman, Catchment Sensitive Farming Officer, planted his own orchard 10 years ago. Geoff will talk through the practicalities and benefits of planting trees in pasture.
Matthew Woodcock and Chris Waterfield work for the Forestry Commission – the government’s specialists in all things forestry and woodland – and will be discussing some of the activities you could undertake on your farm to either manage existing or create new woodlands.
